Nestled right by the heart of Berlin’s vibrant Hackesche Höfe area, Mandarin Coffee Roastery at Sophienstraße 10, 10178 Berlin, Germany, is a haven for coffee enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. As a seasoned coffee explorer, I’ve had my fair share of café experiences, but Mandarin Coffee Roastery offers something truly special.

Location: The Perfect Starting Point
The café’s location is ideal for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the day’s adventures. Situated amidst the winding shops and streets of Hackesche Höfe, it serves as the perfect launchpad for a day of exploration in this bustling area of Berlin.
Comfort and Views
Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the comfortable seating. It’s a small detail, but it makes a world of difference, especially if you’re like me and enjoy lingering over your coffee. The view from the café is another highlight. Positioned perfectly, the large window offers a glimpse into the daily hustle and bustle of Berlin, providing a side street view that’s as dynamic as the city itself.
Warmth in Every Interaction
The staff and owner of Mandarin Coffee Roastery exude a warmth and friendliness that’s infectious. It’s not just about serving great coffee; it’s about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. This kind of hospitality is what turns a simple coffee shop visit into a memorable experience.

The Coffee: A Brew Worth Savoring
Let’s talk about the main event – the coffee. It was fantastic! Each sip was a testament to the care and expertise that goes into their roasting process. The flavors were well-balanced, making each cup a delightful journey for the taste buds.
Cozy but Ideal
While the experience was largely positive, there are a couple of things to note for your visit. The seating is somewhat limited, with about 8 indoor chairs and 4 tables. It’s cozy, but during busy hours, finding a spot might be a challenge.

Plenty of gift options and a brilliant brand design/colour choice.
Additionally, I found myself curious about the café’s backstory and the inspiration behind its name. While there might be information available, it wasn’t immediately apparent. (It may have been in German, and I may have missed it.)
Stay Connected
For those who want to stay updated on what’s brewing at Mandarin Coffee Roastery, their Instagram page (@mandarin.coffeeroastery) is the perfect place to start. It’s a great way to get a glimpse into their world and see what’s new.
A Coffee Journey Continues
And if you’re in the area, why not make it a double feature? Just about 200 meters away is Ben Rahim, another gem I had the pleasure of writing about. You can read my thoughts on this cozy spot here.
Mandarin Coffee Roastery is more than just a café; it’s a small world where coffee, comfort, and culture converge. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that’s worth the visit.
