Tirana Cafes, 4 Specialty Coffeeshops in 2024

Tirana Cafes: 4 Specialty Coffeeshops I’ve explored in 2024

As a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast, I’ve spent countless hours exploring the vibrant coffee scene in Tirana. (I think I’ve been to 40+ coffeeshops now.) The city is teeming with cafes, each offering its own unique charm and flavor. However, for those who appreciate the art of specialty coffee, a few spots stand out above the rest. I’ve found several lists, but didn’t quite agree with some of the recommendations.

So I’ll take you on a journey through four of my favorite specialty coffee shops in Tirana in 2024: The New Rubi Coffee, Hana Corner Café, Antigua, and Mulliri Gourmet.

1. Hana Corner Café – Endless V60 Options

Hana Corner Café is another standout spot for specialty coffee in Tirana. Nestled in a charming area close to Blloku, this café offers a cozy and relaxed environment that’s perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and chatting with friends.

What really sets Hana Corner Café apart is their impressive selection of V60 pour-overs bean options – The V60 pour-over method allows for precise control over the extraction process, resulting in a clean and flavorful cup of coffee. Hana Corner Café offers several varieties for V60 pour-overs, each with its own unique characteristics. If V60 isn’t your think, Hana Corner Café also provides a variety of non-dairy milk options for espresso drinks, including almond, soy, and oat milk. This makes it a great choice for those with dietary preferences. The café’s outdoor seating area is a lovely spot to enjoy your coffee while soaking in the neighborhood’s vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Hana Corner Café is a delightful place to relax and savor a high-quality coffee.

2. Rubi Coffee – New and Solid

Rubi Coffee is a new diamond in Tirana’s bustling coffee scene. It looks like they recently decided to start serving espresso, and they are doing it well. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the pink themes, smells of freshly brewed coffee and the warm, inviting atmosphere. What sets Rubi Coffee apart is their dedication to specialty varieties, they have had 2 options each time I’ve visited. One of the highlights of Rubi Coffee is their coffee cards – This thoughtful addition provides detailed information about the origins, tasting notes, and brewing methods of their drinks. It’s a fantastic way to learn more about the coffee you’re enjoying and to appreciate the nuances of each variety. It reminded me a bit of The Visit and the best espresso I tried in Berlin.

The baristas at Rubi Coffee are passionate about their craft and friendly.During my visits, I’ve tried several of their specialty varieties, and each one has been a delightful experience. If you’re a fan of specialty espressos, Rubi Coffee has something to satisfy your palate. The combination of high-quality beans, expert brewing, and a welcoming atmosphere makes Rubi Coffee a must-visit for any coffee lover in Tirana.

3. Mulliri Gourmet – The Peak of a Chain

Mulliri Gourmet is a true haven for coffee connoisseurs in Tirana. If you’re familiar with Starbucks, this is similar to a Starbucks Reserve store. I love the Jamaican Blue Mountain variety they carry, a rare and highly sought-after coffee known for its mild flavor and lack of bitterness. (It’s so rare they won’t even sell the wholesale beans to you, only espresso drinks.) In addition to Jamaican Blue Mountain, Mulliri Gourmet offers several other single-origin options, each with its own distinct flavor profile. The café’s modern and stylish interior provides a comfortable setting for enjoying your coffee, whether you’re catching up with friends or working on your laptop. The staff at Mulliri Gourmet are also passionate about coffee and always eager to share their knowledge with customers, making it a great place to learn more about the world of specialty coffee.

4. Antigua Specialty Coffee – A Classic

When you walk into Antigua, you see a wide selection of coffee bags. Although I haven’t personally seen single-origin espresso options on my visits, I plan to inquire about them next time. Antigua Specialty Coffee is a popular spot for tourists, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere and excellent service, along with wifi. The café’s commitment to quality, along with their new (2024) espresso machine makes it a noteworthy player in the city’s specialty coffee scene. Whether you’re looking for a quick espresso or a leisurely pour-over, Antigua Specialty Coffee is a great place to explore the diverse world of specialty coffee.

Conclusion

Tirana’s coffee culture is thriving, with a growing number of specialty coffee shops offering unique and high-quality coffee experiences. The new Rubi Coffee, Hana Corner Café, Antigua, and Mulliri Gourmet are four standout spots that should be on every coffee lover’s radar in 2024. Each of these cafés brings something special to the table, from detailed coffee cards and V60 pour-overs to rare single-origin varieties. And while Antigua Specialty Coffee may not be my main focus, it remains a significant player in the city’s coffee scene, offering a wide range of options for coffee enthusiasts. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, exploring these specialty coffee shops is a great way to experience the rich and diverse coffee culture of Tirana. So, grab your coffee card, choose your favorite brewing method, and enjoy a cup of specialty coffee in one of these exceptional cafés.
